"Although most of the people you ask would say old properties - or buildings that accommodate many people, such as prisons, hospitals and castles - the reality is that any property can be haunted, even modern," says Alison. "However, it is likely that older properties tend to have a 'haunted feeling' about them, since they have more history than new buildings."

What feelings would I feel on a "haunted" property?

-Feeling of being watched or spied on.

-Feelings of someone standing behind you.

-Feeling touched by invisible hands.

-Hair sensation on the back of the neck standing.

-Feeling of cobwebs on the face or body.

-Feeling of a cold breeze as if someone had passed in front of you.

What are the signs that a building is haunted?

-Lights on and off, or up and down, by themselves.

-Bulbs that blow frequently.

-Sounds of objects being dropped, but when you go to investigate, there’s nothing there.

-See unexplained shadows with the corner of your eye.

-Strange behaviour on the part of pets in the property: for example dogs barking or growling towards something you do not see, cats staring in a certain area as if they could see someone.

-See sparkling lights, fogs or shapes in unexplained motion.

-Sudden drops in temperature, especially in an area of the estate.
